Terms of use
The rules for using Kafayah, in plain words. Draft: these terms have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer, and the final wording (especially on liability, payment and refunds) will be set before Kafayah is sold. See also the privacy notice.
What Kafayah is
Kafayah is a filter. It blocks websites and apps by name (adult content, gambling, scams and dangerous sites, plus the apps, sites and categories you choose) and can pause the internet at times you set. It does not see the pages you read, your messages or your passwords.
It is a help, not a promise
- Filters miss things and sometimes block things by mistake. Kafayah cannot promise that nothing inappropriate will ever reach a device, and it does not filter what is inside an app or site you allow.
- A determined person can sometimes get around a filter. Kafayah can tell you when protection is switched off, but it cannot force a device to stay protected.
- Kafayah does not replace a parent's or a teacher's supervision.
- If a site is blocked by mistake you can report it from your dashboard.
Your responsibilities
- Connect only devices and networks you are responsible for, and tell the adults who use them. Schools should inform students and parents.
- Keep your password private. You can change it, or delete your account, from your dashboard at any time.
- Give correct information when you sign up.
Not a way around the law
Kafayah only adds blocks; it never removes one. Sites blocked by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority stay blocked. You must not use Kafayah to get around any block, or for anything unlawful. We may suspend an account that is used this way.
Prices and payment
Protection is free. Blocking adult, gambling and scam sites, SafeSearch, young child mode and alerts cost nothing, for as long as you use Kafayah. Kafayah Plus (app and category blocking, schedules and prayer-time pauses, pausing the internet, reports, more profiles and other parents or staff) is paid in advance for a month or a year, at the price shown on the plan page before you pay.
Every new account gets a free trial of Plus. Nothing is charged automatically: you pay by Raast, Easypaisa, JazzCash or bank transfer when you choose to, and tell us the transaction ID. When Plus ends we email you first, it keeps working a few more days, and then only Plus stops: your settings are kept and the free protection continues. A payment we cannot find is not counted, and we tell you why. If you pay twice or by mistake, tell us and we return it.
Limits on our responsibility
Because filters are not perfect, we cannot accept responsibility for content that gets through, or for a site blocked by mistake, beyond what Pakistani law requires of us. The exact wording will be settled with a lawyer before launch.
Changes, and the law that applies
We may change the service or these terms; we will tell you about important changes before they apply. These terms are intended to be read under the laws of Pakistan. Contact details will be added before launch.
